THAILAND IN 2000
Thailand's economy proved far less dynamic than its politics in 2000. A pattern of slow growth - with attendant social, financial, and commercial risks - seemed to emerge. In foreign relations, nothing challenged Thailand so much as Burma. A long, insecure, and poorly demorcated western border raised a spectrum of ever more pressing security concerns for Bangkok.
